Some immigrants found the warm Christmas in Australia a cultural shock!


A housewife (Britain --> Australia in 1971):

Now there is slush on the street and everyone seems happy! Nobody hates Sydney’s Christmas heat!

Despite the mismatching weather, this Ukrainian family in Canberra celebrated Christmas with their home traditions in 1962, carolling around an illuminated star in hand-embroidered costumes.
